EDGINGTON, Ill. — In a game that saw five lead changes, Rockridge took the lead in the sixth inning, thanks to a three-run rally, and defeated the Fulton Steamers 6-4 on Tuesday in high school softball.
Rockridge took a 5-4 lead on a wild pitch from Fulton pitcher Chelsea Lesniewski, and they tacked on an insurance run later in the inning.
Lesniewski spent the entire game in the circle, throwing 111 pitches, 71 of those for strikes. Lesniewski allowed six runs, but only one of them was earned. She also had five strikeouts and allowed four walks.
Jenna James went 3-for-3 for the Steamers as the No. 8 hitter. She brought in an RBI as well as shortstop Jenna Jones. Jones had a 1-for-3 afternoon.
Lesniewski helped her own cause with a pair of hits. All nine hits for the Steamers were singles.
Meanwhile, Jenna Carroll picked up the win for the Rockets in relief. Her three-inning performance calmed the Steamers a little despite Fulton getting a sixth-inning run and a Jones seventh-inning walk.
