Prep wrestling: Steamers earn split

FULTON, Ill. — Fulton got pins from Cole Grant, Adam Hodge, Mike Pidde, Zack Jenkins and Steven Balk on Friday, and a 12-11 decision by Sam Grant also was as a key as the Steamers edged Rock Falls 36-35 in a wrestling dual meet.

The Steamers also came close against Orion, falling 39-34 in the other half of their double dual. Pidde had a pin in that dual, as well.

Bellevue drops 2

BELLEVUE — Colin Stillmunkes opened the night with a pin for Bellevue, but teammate Ben Cobb was the only other Comet who won a contested match as West Liberty and Durant-Bennett beat Bellevue 58-9 and 51-12, respectively, Thursday in River Valley Conference wrestling.

Stillmunkes kicked off the match against West Liberty with a pin in 2:45 at 220 pounds, and Cobb wrapped up the meet with a 4-2 win at 195. Jesse Connolly (285) and Kole Wagner (132) picked up forfeit wins for the Comets against Durant-Bennett.
