Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 2600 Lincoln Way.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Catholic Church of the Visitation, 1032 Middle Road, Camanche. Monsignor Donald W. Grubisch will be officiating and the Rev. Richard Okumu will be assisting.



CAMANCHE — Gene Arthur Greathouse, 66, of Camanche, died Monday at Mercy North Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Ed Nolan, Ron Schroeder, Charlie Berdell, Earle Gardert, Jerry House and Hans Volkers.

Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 4, 1941, in Clinton to Virgil and Edith Luce Greathouse. After his mother died when he was 18, he was raised by his stepmother, Hazel. He married Ruth Kinney on Aug. 19, 1967, at St. Boniface Catholic Church.

He was a 1959 graduate of Clinton High School.

He was employed with the Curtis Co., Dairy-Pak and retired from Ralston Purina where he worked in the warehouse as a fork-truck driver.

He was a member of Catholic Church of the Visitation, Camanche Bowling Association and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Shawn Greathouse of Clinton; one daughter, Shannan (David) Molin of Camanche; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Carmeletea (Tom) Rutherford of Bennett, Donna (Steve) Bentley of Clinton, Gina Greathouse of Des Moines and Myra (Marc) Rhodes of Clinton; one sister-in-law, Nancy Myers of Tipton; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to the family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Death date: June 18, 2007
