Daniels, Bormann propel Preston

BELLEVUE — Korissa Daniels nailed five 3-pointers and Tiffany Bormann scored a game-high 19 points to lead Preston to the 59-32 Big East Conference girls basketball win over Bellevue.

The Comets kept the game close early, trailing 5-4 midway through the first quarter. The Trojans held a 17-10 lead after one quarter.

Preston did the majority of the damage after halftime, outscoring Bellevue 17-6 in the third quarter.

Daniels made three of her five long balls after intermission to lead the Trojans surge.

Pearl City tops West Carroll

SAVANNA, Ill. — The Thunder excelled defensively but could not muster much offense in the 40-26 loss to Pearl City.

“For most of the game, we played outstanding defense,” West Carroll head coach Travis Findlay said. “The offensive side, however, we struggled. Paige Schneider had her best game of the year. We just need it to click on both ends.”

Schneider scored a team-high 13 points in the loss. She also recorded four steals and four rebounds.

The Thunder led 5-3 after the first quarter, but Pearl City exploded for 19 points in the second period to build a 22-8 halftime advantage.

WILTON — Whitney Rorah had 15 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots Monday to lead Northeast to a 63-49 non-conference win against Wilton.

Katelyn Petersen added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Rebels (5-4, 1-1), while Demie Diedrich had five points and seven steals.
