Preston’s Bormann earns MVP honor

CLINTON — Preston freshman Kelcie Bormann has been named the Big East Conference Most Valuable Player as the league announced it’s all-conference teams for softball.

The Trojans ace pitcher was joined on the first team by teammate and battery mate, catcher Haley Andresen, a sophomore.

Bellevue Marquette, Calamus-Wheatland and Northeast each put three on the first team.

The Rebels were represented by first baseman Paige Seeser and outfielders Whitney Rorah and Taylor Kaczinski. Seeser and Rorah are sophomores, while Kaczinski is a freshman.

Junior Emily Michels was named first team pitcher for the Mohawks, while teammates Paige Daugherty and Molly Sieverding made the elite team as outfielders. Sieverding is a junior, while Daugherty is a freshman.

Junior pitcher Katie Pingel was a first team selection for Calamus-Wheatland, while senior Whitney Green was a first-teamer in the outfield and junior Leah Goettsch made it as a catcher.

The Camanche Indians placed a pair of seniors on the first team. Lauren Ryan and Alley Steines each made the select squad in their last years in high school. Ryan was selected as a utility player, while Steines made the team at third base.
