Big East Conference names all-league baseball teams

CLINTON — Several area athletes were honored as the Big East Conference announced the all-conference teams for baseball.
League champion, Calamus-Wheatland, led the way with three first team selections, while Northeast, Camanche and Bellevue each had two.
Calamus-Wheatland sophomore, Ryan Powers, was tabbed by the league coaches as the Most Valuable Player as well as a first team member.
Seniors Ryan Mason and Tim Olson joined their teammate on the elite squad after the Warriors won the conference title with a 10-2 record.
Powers batted .528 for the Warriors and was selected as a shortstop.
Calamus-Wheatland head coach Dave Rock was named the conference’s coach of the year by his peers.
Mason batted .429 and compiled a 4-1 record on the mound, while Olson hit .375 for the season.
Senior Jake Dever and junior Jordan Howe were each selected to the first team for Northeast who finished their conference slate with an 8-4 record.
Howe was selected as a pitcher after going 4-3 on the mound with a 1.54 ERA. He also excelled at the plate, batting .548.
Dever, a catcher, batted .457 in his final season for the Rebels.
Junior Logan Hilgendorf and senior Colton Hilgendorf led the Camanche Indians to a 9-3 conference record, good for a second place tie with Lisbon and Bellevue.
Logan Hilgendorf led the Indians with a record of 7-1 and an ERA of 1.78. He also batted .444 on the season.
Colton Hilgendorf made the team as a utility player after batting .457 in conference play.
The Bellevue Comets placed a pair of teammates on the select squad after tying for second in the league with a 9-3 record.
Seniors Sam Iosbaker and Dillon Budde each made the first team in their final high school campaigns.
Iosbaker made the team as an outfielder after batting .500 for the Comets.
Budde was selected as a utility player as he batted .514 and had an ERA of 2.16.
East Central outfielder Devan Henfrey was named to the first team as a senior. Henfrey batted .538 for the Raiders, who placed ninth in the Big East with a 5-7 record.
Beau Becker was tabbed as a first team selection after leading Bellevue Marquette to a 6-6 conference slate. Becker, a junior, batted .590 for the Mohawks.
Andrew’s Corey Manders made the first team on the strength of a .529 batting average.
Prince of Peace’s Jared Jones received honorable mention for his play for the Irish.
