Third-quarter charge carries Prophetstown

POLO, Ill. — A strong second-half performance carried Prophetstown to a 45-32 non-conference win against a Three Rivers Conference rival Thursday night at the Polo Tournament.

Carly Koehler (12 points) hit a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter to help the Prophets (9-4) stretch a one-point halftime lead to 33-25. Then, Taylor Gallentine scored five of her game-high 16 points in the fourth quarter, when Prophetstown outscored Morrison 12-7.

Le-Win tops West Carroll

PEARL CITY, Ill. — Lena-Winslow defeated West Carroll 35-30 on Thursday night at the Pearl City Tournament.

“We played too tentative tonight against a good, physical team,” West Carroll Coach Travis Findlay said.

Sarah Lucas scored 11 points to lead the Thunder, while Becca Fritz pulled down eight rebounds.
