Easton Valley advances

Wilhelm also contributed with 14 points for Easton Valley, and Sieverding admitted he had a tough time during practice simulating players of Zaruba and Wilhelm’s physique.

“We could have used brooms, I guess,” Sieverding said. “We don’t have anyone 6-foot-8, so it was really hard going against those guys.”

Easton Valley defeated the Mohawks in both match-ups this season — winning 76-40 on Jan. 14 and getting a 57-44 road win on Feb. 4.

“It’s always hard to beat a team three times in a season,” Beck said. “There are no freebies this time of the year; everyone has seniors that don’t want to go home. You have to show up to play every night.

“I think, honestly, everyone was disappointed with how we played tonight, so hopefully we’ll be ready to go next week,” Beck said.

Prince of Peace coach Gerry Murphy said the River Hawks could make a long jaunt in the postseason run.

“They can go as far as they want to go; they’ve got talent,” Murphy said after his team lost 66-52 to Midland. “Springville is going to be a tough team to run into, and it’s a pretty tough substate, but right now, they look pretty good.”
