Herald Staff Report
The Clinton Herald

---- — STERLING, Ill. — Erie may not have had the fiery production that has been a norm for them this season, but on Thursday, it was rebounding that separated the Cardinals from Sterling Newman in a 43-37.

As a team, Erie hauled in 40 rebounds, and over half of those were brought in via Rachel Cobert with 21 rebounds.

Laykin Miner led the team with 12 points to give Erie its 11th win of the season.

Mary Alice Oswalt led Newman with 16 points, followed by Julie Hurd with 13 points.

Erie coach Brian Howell appreciates the effort and the win, he just wants to see his team play a total 32 minutes.

“We played one bad third quarter, but we played well tonight except for that. We need to work on playing four strong quarters which we are capable of.”
