Northeast falls short

GOOSE LAKE -- Northeast battled back after dropping the first two games and forced a fifth set, but the Rebels couldn’t hold off Durant-Bennett in the end. The Wildcats won the River Valley cross-division match 25-18, 26-24, 20-25, 25-27, 15-8 on Thursday.

“It was a hard-fought battle with Durant tonight,” Northeast coach Brenda McKone said. “An uncharacteristic slow start for the Rebels, but (we) turned things around mid match. I’m very proud of the effort and intensity tonight.”

Addie Oberman led the Rebels (8-11) with 10 kills and also had 17 digs.

Durant-Bennett improved its record to 5-12.
