Mohawks beat Irish at home

BELLEVUE -- Playing at home for the final time, senior Haley Lampe had 11 kills and four aces to help Marquette Catholic beat Prince of Peace 25-10, 25-14, 19-25, 25-16 on Thursday in Tri-Rivers Conference volleyball.

Blake Banowetz also finished with 11 kills, and she also had 14 digs as the Mohawks improved to 10-11.

Halee Vicks led Prince of Peace (1-15) with five kills.

It also was the final home match for Souvenier Cai.

Indians beaten

CAMANCHE -- Camanche split a pair of close games, then West Liberty seized control in the final two sets for a 25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-15 win Thursday in River Valley Conference volleyball.

Libby Schnoor stood out for the Indians (13-7), leading Camanche with 10 kills, 15 digs, five blocks and two aces.

West Liberty improved to 13-6.

Northeast falls short

GOOSE LAKE -- Northeast battled back after dropping the first two games and forced a fifth set, but the Rebels couldn’t hold off Durant-Bennett in the end. The Wildcats won the River Valley cross-division match 25-18, 26-24, 20-25, 25-27, 15-8 on Thursday.

“It was a hard-fought battle with Durant tonight,” Northeast coach Brenda McKone said. “An uncharacteristic slow start for the Rebels, but (we) turned things around mid match. I’m very proud of the effort and intensity tonight.”

Addie Oberman led the Rebels (8-11) with 10 kills and also had 17 digs.

Durant-Bennett improved its record to 5-12.

Galena beats Unity

GALENA, Ill. -- Galena swept Unity Christian 25-11, 25-9 on Thursday.

JoLynn Frederick had two kills to pace the Knights.

“In the first game, Unity and Galena stayed neck and neck at the beginning, but after some receiving errors by Unity, Galena pulled ahead, feeding Unity some hits they could not return,” Unity coach Tabitha Fullan said.

Prophets top Filles

PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. -- Clare Kramer had a big night, leading Prophetstown past Morrison 25-13, 14-25, 25-23 on Thursday in the Three Rivers Conference.

Kramer finished with nine kills, six digs, two aces and one block as the Prophets improved to 4-7, 3-4 in the conference.
