The Clinton High School girls tennis team was honored Monday night by the Clinton School Board for its recent state championship win.
The team defeated defending four-time state champion Ames in the semifinals and then beat No. 1 seed Urbandale to claim the first-ever state title in girls tennis for Clinton.
Also recognized was Head Girls Tennis Coach Cindy Rasche, who was honored by the Iowa Girls Athletic Union for her lifetime contributions to high school girls tennis.
Her contribution to the sport was celebrated at the 2013 state tennis meet as well.
