---- — DAVENPORT — Clinton finished off its fifth sweep during Mississippi Athletic Conference play with a 25-16, 25-12, 25-7 victory Monday night at Davenport West. “I think coaches will tell you its a good sign when you sweep in three and the other team scores diminishing points in each game,” Clinton co-coach Mark Massey said.

The win was Clinton’s second against West this season. The other came at the North Scott Invitational.

Erin Wenzel had 19 kills to lead Clinton (18-6, 6-1 MAC), while Elle Tubbs added 10. The River Queens committed just six hitting errors and had a .410 hitting percentage (kills minus errors, with the total then divided by total attacks).

Massey also was pleased with the .974 serving efficiency. Monique Harris served seven aces, Jordan Nelson six.

The River Queens are off until Saturday, when they play in the Bettendorf Invitational that includes No. 1 Bettendorf and No. 2 Ankeny.
