BETTENDORF — Clinton (4-12, 2-6) wanted to get going right by getting on the winning side of the scoreboard but lost both games to Bettendorf 10-0 and 14-2 in a three-inning nightcap Thursday in Mississippi Athletic Conference softball.
In Game 1, the Bulldogs (11-7, 4-4) had 15 hits for their 10th win. They scored two runs in the sixth inning to enforce the 10-run rule.
Bettendorf had six extra-base hits, including a home run from Mackenzie Helgerson. She also had a triple. Allie Lewis had two doubles.
DoniRae Mayhew allowed one hit to Clinton in three innings; she struck out five River Queens.
In Game 2, the Bulldogs had 16 hits. The first six hitters each had two hits apiece. Lewis hit a home run and had five RBIs in the win in which Bettendorf scored 10 runs in the second inning.
AJ Zickuhr picked up the win by allowing the two runs on seven hits while fanning six River Queens.
Wilton blanks Bellevue
BELLEVUE — Wilton scored three runs in the seventh inning to topple Bellevue 5-0 in the River Valley Conference.
Gaby Keith had a pair of RBIs; cleanup hitter Carli Fix had three hits with an RBI.
Sammy Kokjohn silenced the Comets by allowing just two hits while not walking a Comet and striking out four of them. Kokjohn scored a pair of runs as well.
Durant tops Northeast
DURANT — Scoring kept quiet between Northeast and Durant-Bennett until the fifth inning when Cheyanne Meinke scored on an Alleenah Marcucci error. It was the lone run as Durant-Bennett beat Northeast 1-0 in River Valley Conference action.
Before that, D-B had four hits, while Northeast rounded up three hits before the Wildcats scored their run.
No Rebel tallied more than two hits, Addie Oberman got the first hit for Northeast. Jayna Farrell also got a hit in the second inning.
