E/P scores 15 in inning

PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. — Erie/Prophetstown was all business Saturday, taking care of Peru St. Bede by dominating in a doubleheader that lasted 9 1/2 innings.

The Panthers won Game 1 13-2 by scoring four in the third inning, then five in the fifth inning to enforce the 10-run rule.

Savannah Mettler went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Emily Cox went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. The Panthers totaled 14 hits.

Mettler and Kylie Ackerman pitched the game for E/P. Metter started the first 3 1/3 innings, allowing both runs on five hits while striking out four.

Ackerman allowed one hit without allowing a run, and she struck out three hitters.

Brianna Ian led St. Bede with two hits and an RBI.

In Game 2, the Panthers won 18-6. The Panthers scored 15 runs in the first inning.

The first eight Panther hitters reached base before Addison Morse recorded the first out. No worries, however. The next time Morse appeared at the plate, she hit a two-run home run to finish the rally.

The Panthers totaled eight hits in the 15-run inning. E/P ended with 13 hits, including seven extra-base hits, in the five-inning game.

St. Bede’s star in the game was Emily Draper, who had a two-hit game with three RBIs.

The blowout gave Addie Glassburn a chance to get some experience inside the circle. She threw 1 1/3 innings, allowing the six runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
