Northeast makes push to win Invitational

Schnoor was also part of two victorious relays — she was the anchor of the 1,600 relay that turned in a time of 4:25.38, then also was the final leg of the distance medley relay that turned in a 4:28.08.

“I’d say I did all right; I didn’t do my best, but it happens,” Schnoor said. “I think as a team we did our best yet, and we haven’t won yet in the four-by-400, because we’ve had to compete against (Central) DeWitt and (Davenport) Assumption.

“It was nice to compete against smaller schools,” Schnoor said. “This meet was a different one, and we didn’t have to go up against bigger schools.”

The other three who ran in the 1,600 for the Indians were Kylie Phillips, Bailey Mensinger, and Nissen. Nissen, Mensinger and Brittany Paasch ran the other three legs in the distance medley.

“My split in the DM was my best of the season by three seconds, and I thought I did really well in the high jump,” Schnoor added.

Fulton/Fulton Unity was the only Illinois school at the invitational, and it had to make its necessary adjustments, but Steamers coach Tim Wessels thinks his team met the challenge.

“I was very pleased with how they did; they performed very well; we placed somewhere in nearly every event, so that was good,” Wessels said. “They do a lot more relay events than we’re used to, but it was fun to do things a little differently than we’re used to.”

The Steamers finished third in team standings with 97 points.
