MOLINE, Ill. — Moline struck first, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning, and that was enough to carry the Maroons to a 5-3 victory against Morrison in a battle of perennial softball powers.
The Fillies (21-3) scored all of their runs in the fifth inning. Allie Wiersema, Brooke Stralow and Jaeden Workman drove them in. Rachel Davis had a pair of hits for Morrison, and Workman hit a double.
Alaina Hofmann was the winning pitcher for Moline, and she drove in one of the Maroons’ runs.
Up next for Morrison is a trip to the Elmhurst Tournament.
Amboy blasts Fulton
AMBOY, Ill. — Amboy batted around in the third and fourth innings Wednesday to hand Fulton a 14-3 setback in Three Rivers Conference volleyball.
