Camanche opens with 3-game win

CAMANCHE — Camanche delivered 17 ace serves Tuesday night as it opened the high school volleyball season with a 25-10, 25-20, 25-23 victory against Calamus-Wheatland in a Big East Conference match.

“Our girls stepped it up this game,” Camanche coach Erin Daniels said. “Taylor Bialas and Lindsey Grams passed with great accuracy. Brettan Hilgendorf’s defense was tough to be stopped. Kylie (Vogel) passed the ball well and mixed up the sets so all of our hitters could be successful.”

Vogel had 22 assists for the Indians, while Julia Moore led the offense with nine kills. Bialas had 15 digs and Hilgendorf added 11 on the defensive side.

Sydney Grell’s five aces paced the Indians, while Moore and Vogel added four each.

Abbie Moellenbeck led Calamus-Wheatland with seven kills, and she also had eight assists, two fewer than Sydney Kerr.
