Fulton edged by Sterling at home dual

---- — FULTON, Ill. — Four Steamers shot in the 40s Tuesday when Fulton welcomed Sterling High to the Fulton Country Club. The Golden Warriors were 18 strokes lower, winning the dual 161-179.

Sterling’s Ryan Hurley was medalist with a low of 38 at the par-36 course. He beat out a trio of 40s by Fulton’s Matt Dail and Hurley’s teammates Kyle Sinn and Trevor Sisson. Not a single Warrior shot above 45, facilitating their victory.

On Fulton’s side, Dail was followed by Lucas Wiebenga’s 45, Brett Terrock’s 46 and Dustin Rowland’s 48. Other Fulton golfers included Jake Outzen with 50 and Justin Petersen with 51.

Next up for Fulton is a road trip against Galena at 4 p.m. Monday.

West Carroll beats pair

ORANGEVILLE, Ill. — West Carroll won its Tuesday triangular, taking down Dakota and Eastland with a team-low 186. Devin Hartman of Eastland was the meet medalist with a 42 on the par-36 Brush Creek course as the Cougars finished second with 196.

Cameron Ehlers was the low scorer for the Thunder with a round of 43. He tied with Dakota’s Alex Heinz for runner-up.

Three other West Carroll players shot in the 40s — Sean Keckler with 45, and Matt Ritchie and Hayley Guilinger each with 49s. Keegan Randecker’s 52 and Anthony Mendoza’s 55 were not counted in the Thunder’s team total.
