CLINTON — Senior River Queens earned an appropriate, dominant sendoff on their home courts Thursday, with Clinton shutting out Davenport Central 9-0. Meanwhile, the junior varsity (also with seniors) won an impressive 20 of 23 matches.
“They’ve done a great job leading our team,” Clinton coach Cindy Rasche said of her upperclassmen. She pointed out senior Rubina Vidal’s performance in particular, winning No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-1) and No. 1 doubles with teammate Griffin Rasche (6-0, 6-1).
The Queens will travel to Pleasant Valley on Tuesday for their next contest. They remain undefeated (8-0) on the season.
Kings top Blue Devils
DAVENPORT — Clinton’s boys tennis team earned a shut out victory over Davenport Central on Thursday 9-0. In the No. 3 singles match, Cody Nolan came up with a close win over the Blue Devils’ Thomas Corbin, dropping the first set 6-3 but rallying to win the second 6-4 and the supertiebreaker 10-7.
Next, the River Kings will host a Saturday invitational on their home courts starting at 9 a.m.
