---- — GOOSE LAKE — The Northeast School District has officially supported a joint wrestling agreement with Easton Valley School District.
During Tuesday night’s meeting, Northeast Superintendent Jim Cox said he wanted the board to let it be known that the district welcomes Easton Valley students into its wresting program. He informed the board that Easton Valley recently voted against the joint program. Minutes from the Nov. 18 meeting, found on the Easton Valley website, confirm that a majority of the board voted against the wrestling agreement.
“So we have four students up there who wanted to be a part of an activity,” Cox said. “Irregardless of who the school was, it doesn’t matter. Irregardless of whatever dispute you may have with another school, kids come first.”
Cox disagreed with Easton Valley’s decision and asked the Northeast Board of Education to approve the joint wrestling agreement. The board did.
“If things were reversed, I would be the first to tell you that I would recommend that our students be allowed to participate in their wrestling program,” Cox said.
