Prep boys basketball: Huebner leads Fulton past Erie

Herald Staff Report

FULTON, Ill. — Kyle Huebner caught fire and sent the Cardinals of Erie packing behind four three point field goals, all of them in the first half. His 10 points in the first quarter helped build a 20-10 Fulton lead and 6 more behind two more threes made it 36-19 at the half. Although Huebner cooled off after the break, grabbing only one more field goal, it was more than enough for the Steamers to take care of Erie 59-31.

Alex Barber was second for Fulton with 9 points. Seth Sanderson, Jason Osborn, Devin Kuehl and Jake Willging each added 6.

Erie was held to 14 total points in the second half.

Prophets fall in overtime

PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. — Riverdale got the best of the Prophets when, after playing to a 36-36 tie on Thanksgiving, the Rams held Prophetstown to only three more points as a team. Meanwhile, Riverdale posted 16 more of its own and walked away with a 52-39 overtime victory.

Josh Sigel, Grant Ames and Chris Bauer each had 7 points for the Prophets while Austin Gerlach led the team with 9. The Rams saw production from only four of its players with Chris Kosminsky racking up 26 behind six three-pointers and two other starters scoring 12.

Prophetstown trailed by three entering the fourth quarter and maintained a deficit for most of the game.
