The Clinton Herald

---- — STERLING, Ill. — Fielding a young team, Clinton had most of its top varsity runners compete in the freshman-sophomore division, while the River Queens’ Kim Kaster placed 28th in the girls race Saturday at the Sterling Invitational cross country meet.

Kaster completed the 3-mile course — longer than the 4,000-meter course used in Iowa meets — in 19 minutes, 7 seconds. Mailin Struck of Riverside-Brookfield won the race in 17:02, 52 seconds ahead of runner-up Kelsey Schrader of DeKalb, who placed 10th in last year’s Class 3A state meet.
