Iowa FOOTBALL ROUNDUP EV ends skid at 3

(Continued)

The biggest play of the night happened on Andrew Driscoll’s 60-yard second-quarter touchdown run, giving Easton Valley a commanding 47-6 halftime lead. Driscoll led all rushers with 169 yards on the ground, while teammates Grant Hinerichsen, Blake Bormann and Craiton Andresen also scored.

“I think the kids’ confidence was a little shaken after that three-game streak there,” Behr said. “Two of those losses were against top-five teams and both were on the road. ... To go back on the road tonight and put together a good effort, it was nice to get settled to where we hope to be.”

Next week marks Senior Night for the River Hawks with the final game of the regular season at home against Cedar Valley Christian.

Indiansfall on road

MOUNT VERNON — For the second straight week, Camanche surrendered more than 50 points, leading to a second consecutive blowout loss. The Indians fell 53-12 to Mount Vernon and dropped their record to 1-7.

Mustangs quarterback Jake Pisarik completed two passes on the night. Both went for scores — a 42-yard toss to Luke Muller and a 41-yarder to Spencer Drahos. Mount Vernon’s sophomore back, Hines Mickey, rushed for two more scores, Muller added a touchdown run of his own, and Alex Reid found paydirt on a 6-yard carry. The team racked up 328 yards of total offense.

Camanche managed a touchdown in each half during the second and fourth quarters. The Indians close out the season at home Friday against Columbus.

Sabersreach .500

DEWITT — After dropping four out of five games to start the season, Central DeWitt stormed back, Friday, for a third straight victory, bringing the Sabers back to .500 at 4-4. DeWitt started its Senior Night home matchup with Anamosa with an opening-drive touchdown by Jake Feldpausch and continued pouring it on for a 48-14 win.

After Feldpausch’s rushing score, the Blue Raiders were able to knot it near the end of the first quarter 7-7, aided by a DeWitt fumble deep in Sabers’ territory. DeWitt marched all the way to the Raiders’ red zone ending the opening quarter, then Logan Sheppard punched it in to open the second quarter, making it 14-7. The Sabers scored twice more in the second, giving them a 27-7 halftime lead.
