A sight to behold

Lyons Christmas Walk visitors will have the opportunity to view a large Nativity scene inside St. Boniface Church during the walk from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.

The church will have a Nativity Scene displayed on the altar. The style uses natural materials such as moss, sticks, and stones to create a realistic pastoral scene. This style was brought by the earliest St. Boniface members as far back as 1861. The scene combines original Boniface figures with those recently donated. The Catholic Historical Center has turned the former St. Boniface Church into a museum for all Catholic artifacts that have been gathered from the five parishes that previously served Clinton. A group of three dozen people, mostly parishioners of Prince of Peace Church, work at the center creating displays and studying and archiving the records and memorabilia of St. Patrick's, St. Irenaeus, St. Mary's, Sacred Heart, St. Boniface, and Mount St. Clare. As soon as the heating plant is completed, regular hours will be established. The CHC meets each first Wednesday of the month in the Winter Chapel of St. Boniface at 5 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. Jerry Dahl/Clinton Herald
