CLINTON — The annual Clinton County I-Club banquet is coming up Monday, and the opportunity to buy tickets for the event at Wild Rose Casino is no more.
The event is now sold out with 200 tickets, according to Rob Cassidy, Clinton County board member and past president of the I-Club.
The event will start at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour, and then dinner will be served at 6:30. The menu includes grilled steak, potatoes, green beans and a salad.
“The goal of these types of events is for the coaches to get out and keep the fan base enthused about our athletic department, and to thank them for their support,” Cassidy said.
The coaches who are confirmed to appear at the I-Club function are head wrestling coach Tom Brands, head basketball coach Fran McCaffery, associate women’s basketball coach Jan Jensen and an assistant for the football team. The football team representative is unknown since the team can now recruit this time of the year.
Gary Dolphin, the voice of the Hawkeyes on Learfield Sports, will emcee the presentation event that starts at 7:30 p.m.
There will be a silent auction throughout Monday night. Items include tickets to every 2014 home football game, a suite for the Northern Iowa vs. Iowa game on Aug. 30, two golfing packages based in Iowa City, an autographed football from head football coach Kirk Ferentz and a basketball signed by McCaffery.
There is also a golf outing that is in conjunction with the I-Club event. That takes place at noon at The Oaks in Clinton with 25 foursomes taking in 18 holes each.
All money raised will go right back into the athletic department donated by the I-Club.
“We don’t just use the money for football or basketball,” Cassidy said. “We’ve donated money to the men’s golf program for their practice facility, and we’ve also given money to the track and field programs to improve their facilities, just to name a couple.”
