Man questioned is person of interest in Wolfe sisters' death

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police say a man who was questioned regarding the slaying of two former Clinton residents is a person of interest in the case. Lt. Daniel Herrmann says the unidentified man agreed to be interviewed by detectives Wednesday and his house was searched.

The man, who lives next door to the former home of 44-year-old Susan Wolfe and her sister, 38-year-old Sarah Wolfe, was later released but is still under investigation. The women were found dead, each shot once in the head, on Feb. 7.

Susan and Sarah were both from Clinton, and their parents Jack and Pierrette still live in Clinton. Also, their sister, Rep. Mary Wolfe, is the Iowa state representative for Clinton.

The Wolfe family issued a statement Thursday saying they appreciate “the tremendous outpouring of condolences” over the deaths, and that they’re confident the investigation will allow prosecutors to make “a solid arrest and conviction.”
