Dentist gives to the troops

Candy buy-back program promotes healthy teeth.

Promoting healthy teeth while supporting U.S. troops, Dr. Peter C. Igoe of Medina will once again hold his candy buy-back drive this Halloween.

Children can turn in their Halloween candy to Igoe’s dental office at 511 West Ave. and receive $1 per pound, a gift card for a free kid’s meal at a local restaurant and a free dental exam.

The child bringing in the most candy will win two Buffalo Sabres tickets. Parents bringing in the kids will also have their name entered into a drawing for several gift cards to local restaurants.

All of the candy collected will be sent to American troops fighting overseas.

“We’re trying to help the kids with dental health,” said Karen Jordan at Dr. Igoe’s office.

She said it’s also nice because the troops overseas get a treat that they normally couldn’t get over there.

After Halloween, kids can bring candy to the office from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
