The Junior Wilson/VFW Eagles handed Lewiston its first loss in Lockport ‘A’ League baseball action this week by a score of 5-2.
John Brabon opened the game for Junior Wilson/VFW by driving a 3-0 fastball over the left field fence. Jared Preedom capped off the two-run first inning by scoring on a past ball.
Lewiston quickly knotted the score in the bottom of the first on two key hits and a sacrifice bunt.
Preedom was stellar on the mound holding Lewiston scoreless after the first inning.
The game remained tied until the top of the fifth, when the Eagles erupted for three runs.
Preedom singled and Charlie Miller walked to ignite that uprising. Then with two outs and two strikes, Tim Bachman lined a single to right field, scoring both Preedom and Miller for what proved to be the game-winning hit. Matt Boring then added an insurance run with his second hit of the day driving in Andy Hydock.
Junior Wilson/VFW played a flawless defense with a key double play started by Eric Spychalski and a diving catch by Ryan Riemer.
