Robert “Bob” R. Kraft
CLINTON — Robert “Bob” R. Kraft, 71, of Clinton, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at the Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Pool, St. John’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Jackson, Leon Doescher, Garrett “Randy” Housenga, Robert Doescher Jr., Kenneth Doescher and David Steen.
Robert Ralph Kraft was born on August 9, 1938, in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Muthel “Tootie” (Foster) Kraft. He was a 1958 graduate of Clinton High School and later served in the United States Navy from 1958-1962. On June 6, 1964, Bob married Leone “Lonnie” Kahler.
He owned and operated R&R Quality Heating and Air Conditioning with his partner Dick Chatterson. The business was established in 1978. Bob became the sole proprietor of the business in 1990 and retired in 1997. Prior to starting his own business, Bob was employed with Bach Heating.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Clinton Bowling Association for more than thirty years. In 1996, he earned Sponsor of the Year Award in the Twilight Bowling League. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking and assembling model cars.
He is survived by his wife, Leone “Lonnie” of Clinton; two sons, Steven Kraft and wife, Connie, of Clinton, and Tom Kraft and partner, Joe Branham, of Nashville, Tennessee; two daughters, Sue Rolen and husband, Steve, of Franklin, Tennessee, and Angela McCray and husband, Joe, of Fulton, Illinois; four grandchildren, Olivia and Allyson Kraft and Hannah and Natalie Rolen; and one stepgrandson, Aaron McCray.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, William Doescher Jr.; an infant sister; and a grandson, Logan McCray.
Memorials can be made to the Alverno Health Care Facility or Mercy Hospice.
