Richard O. “Dick” Broderson
MUSCATINE — Richard O. “Dick” Broderson, 58, of Muscatine, went home to be with the Lord, on Monday, November 23, 2009, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Walnut Park Baptist Church, 215 Colorado Street. Pastor Walden Askren will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Dennis Edwards, Rodger Broderson, Trea Boyd, Gary Broderson, Seth Burdick, and Carl Broderson Jr. Burial will be 3 p.m. at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to the family in care of his mother, Laura Broderson. Online condolences for the Broderson family may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
“Dick” was born on April 7, 1951, in Clinton, the son of Gerald Owen and Laura Etta Smith Broderson. He was a graduate of Muscatine High School, class of 1970.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served from 1971 to 1975 during the Vietnam era.
He worked for Monsanto and for Doanes the past 11 years, retiring in 2006.
He attended Walnut Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Laura Broderson of Muscatine; one brother, Roy Broderson and wife, Joy, of Muscatine; one sister, Pat Edwards and husband, Dennis Edwards Sr., of Muscatine; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father on November 26, 1998, and one niece, April Dawn Edwards.
