Robert William Haack
CLINTON — Robert William Haack, 87, of Clinton, IA, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Eagle Point Nursing Home.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service time. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
Robert was born March 3, 1922, in Grygla, MN, the son of Otto and Stella (Conner) Haack. Robert was a 1938 Pine River, MN, High School graduate and a 1943 graduate of the University of Minnesota.
He married Rosemary Voss on December 24, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA. He was senior grade lieutenant in the United States Navy, serving during WWII.
Robert had been employed as a chemical engineer and in engineering management at Clinton Corn Processing for 36 years, retiring in 1983. He worked for Coor’s Biotech, Johnstown, CO, for 21⁄2 years and was an overseas short-term consultant for the International Executive Service Corps.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lyons Masonic Lodge 93, was past chairman of the American Chemical Society, Illinois-Iowa Section, past chairman of the American Institute of Chemical Engineering, Iowa Section, he was a member of Alpha Chi-Sigma Fraternity, the International Executive Service Corps (overseas short term consulting), he was past president of the Clinton Engineers Club, was former adjunct assistant professor at the University of Iowa, was a former Chamber of Commerce Board member, was a 50-year member of the Boy Scouts of America and had been a chairman of the Clinton Symphony Orchestra board.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary, of Clinton; 2 daughters, Cheryl Haack of Evanston, IL, and Kathryn Norwood of Maryland Heights, MO; and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Jacqueline.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: John.
