Terry S. Mort (“Morty”)
CLINTON — Terry S. Mort (“Morty”), 61, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2009, at his home in Clinton.
He was born on July 14th, 1948, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Paul E. “Midge” Mort and Anna (Powell) Mort Loots. Terry painted houses and worked with Iowa East Central T.R.A.I.N., Burpee Seed Co. and McEleney Motors.
Terry was married to Elizabeth Elliott on December 26, 1978, at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Clinton. He was a conductor with Union Pacific Railroad and a member of the United Transportation Union, Local 316. He was an avid sports fan, coaching basketball and baseball for his sons’ teams. He enjoyed watching the Cubs and Hawkeye basketball and football. Terry also enjoyed rebuilding cars and reading.
Surviving Terry are his wife, Elizabeth, Clinton; mother, Anna Loots, Clinton; sons, Dennis (Connie) Elliott, Kansas City, Missouri, SSG Bradley (Laura) Mort, Ft. Richardson, Alaska, and William T. Mort, Chicago, Illinois; five grandsons, Tyler, Trystan, Taylor, Spencer and Chase Mort; brother, Edward William “Morty” Mort, Chicago, Illinois; and sister, Ruth Ann (Tom) Nixon, Orlando, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, Midge; and his brother, Richard Kesselring.
A sharing time with Terry’s family will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Thom Rickerl, Bill Rickerl, Rick Kowzic, Mike Bingaman, Chris Jenning and Gene Kracht. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Elliott, SSG Bradley Mort, William Mort and Edward Mort.
