I witnessed the most challenging night for fire, city and Red Cross crews, in which I’m very proud and thankful of the quick response and organization, in addition to the caring and patience from all in handling this devastation.
As we reflect back and enter the new year, Deer Ridge is a reminder that our neighboring communities, as well as ours, are ones to be grateful for.
It is a reminder that prayers were answered for everyone’s safety, and we can hold much confidence that our immediate responders are top-notch in planning and performance.
I would like to extend some special thank yous — to Fire Marshal Mike Brown, for keeping me well informed of the status, and caring to convince me when to go home; to Marsha Lutz, for that immediate call — from one manager to another, you’re the best; to Ron and Mark Neblung, for extending their assistance that night — I’m proud to have you as my agents; to Steve Thacker, who always goes way beyond the call of duty; to my own crew, friends and employees, you’re always there; and to Harlan Seeser, thank you for being such an honest businessman.
As we enter the new year and wish continued recovery for the victims, we bid farewell to our historic Deer Ridge — you leave behind many treasured memories and stories for so many. For those of you willing, say one more prayer, that I can find the engraved stone that means so much to Sister Louisa Dwyer.
