Readers thank Kutzli; more on smoking ban

Recently our guests, my husband and I were privileged to attend a performance of “Love and Other Four Letter Words” by the Best Cellar Players. It was an evening filled with memorable songs and poems of love as seen first from the female perspective and then from the male perspective. Included were some of the hit tunes I grew up with and some satirical poems that made us laugh with glee. They took us from young starry-eyed love through the married years to the golden memories that we all hope to share with our beloved.

This production as well as many that we’ve seen is the brainchild of the multi-talented Rex Kutzli. We first attended one of his productions at the Clinton County Historical Museum and have been attending as many as possible ever since. This troupe of performers are so very talented. Rex along with his brother, Doug, have made the winter months in Clinton as well as the rest of the year a lot of fun for us and many others. The River Arts Center basement has become their theater and we wish to thank them immensely for housing the company. Refreshments were provided at intermission and the house was packed.

It is so refreshing to see that Clinton can provide a wonderful evening of such talented entertainment. I want to commend all of the players and urge everyone who craves an evening of fun to give yourself the gift of live entertainment through the Best Cellar Players.

Thank you Rex, Doug and company. We applaud you all.

Sandra and Allan Hartman,

Clinton

I don’t smoke but I would like to make a few comments about the smoking ban.

I do drink and the only bar that I go to in Clinton is the Eagle Club. I go there mostly because I like the place and the people that go there. Some of the people who go there smoke. Now, if that bothered me, I wouldn’t go there. Makes sense doesn’t it? I have a choice and Iowa wants to eliminate choice. Money See, Money Do. Just like Illinois.

I think the next thing that the Iowa Legislature should do is eliminate hemorrhoids. I know they won’t do that because half of the people in the legislature are “Pain in the Butts,” and they would eliminate themselves. Maybe they could also bar fat people from going into restaurants and grocery stores. I know they won’t do that because that might include the other half of the legislature.

Don’t these people have better things to do? With credit card companies charging 20 percent interest, gas prices, rising taxes, you would think they would find bigger problems to tackle.

Fulton, Ill.
