CLINTON — The YWCA domestic violence/sexual assault resource center is once again partnering with the Feinstein Foundation to fight hunger.
The foundation’s annual $1 million Feinstein Challenge runs throughout March. During this time, pledges and donations of cash and food items to qualified non-profits will be matched by a percentage from the Feinstein Foundation. In recent years, the YWCA has been a recipient of Feinstein funds, and will apply again to receive matching funds in 2014.
In order to make the most of this matching opportunity, YWCA officials are asking all who plan to make a donation to the domestic violence/sexual assault resource center this year to make a donation during March.
If a donor is not able to donate at this time but plan to do so later in the year, they can still have a donation count toward matching Feinstein Funds by submitting a donation pledge card during this collection period. Pledge cards can be found on donation collection boxes at participating area businesses or picked up at the YWCA front desk.
In addition to monetary pledges and donations, food donations also will be collected at the Clinton YWCA in March and in various area businesses from Wednesday to March 26. Food items collected will be counted and the total included toward the matching funds. Food items will be valued for the challenge at $1 per item or pound. Food items collected will be distributed to local food pantries.
Matching funds received from the Feinstein Foundation for the collected food items will go the YWCA domestic violence/sexual assault center.
