CLINTON — A Camanche bank will offer free shredding next weekend.
Citizens First Bank’s Camanche branch office, 403 S. Washington Blvd., will provide free personal document shredding from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. Normally, the bank holds this annual event at its main location in Clinton. But construction to that building shifted the event to Camanche.
Citizens First Marketing Director Paula Mayer said the bank will continue this ongoing service.
“We are helping consumers learn how to protect themselves, and at the same time, helping them get rid of any documents containing personal information,” Mayer said. “Participants will be able to watch their sensitive documents being shredded on the spot.”
The community is welcome to bring their personal data for confidential destruction. Mayer said anything that may contain personal identifying information such as Social Security numbers, address, date of birth or passwords should be shredded to avoid personal issues such as identity theft or fraud.
Types of items that can be shredded include canceled checks, check registers, bank statements or receipts, loan documents, mortgage documents, brokerage statements, school records, credit card, mortgage and finance solicitations, credit card statements, contracts, personal business papers and credit applications.
This event is intended for individuals, not for businesses.
This is the bank’s ninth year of offering this service.
