MAQUOKETA — A 14-year-old boy is in the hospital after falling nearly 40 feet from a bluff at an eastern Iowa state park.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s office says the teenager fell at Maquoketa Caves State Park, shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday. KWWL-TV in Waterloo says it’s not clear what caused him to fall, or exactly where he was in the park.
His name has not been released. Sheriff’s officials say the boy is from Illinois.
He was taken to a local hospital, where his condition has not been released.
