Fratianni, Nester win bridge

CLINTON — Joe Fratianni and Frank Nester were top Clinton duplicate bridge winners recently at Bickford Cottage.

Merry Iverson and Mary Duhr placed second; Sandy and Tom Tegeler were third; Evelyn Mohr and Pat Ohsann, fourth; Geneene Pals and Larry Musel tied with Kasu Rickertsen and John Mulholland for fifth; Karen Martensen and Phil Barger were seventh; and Carol Machael and Bill Lackermann placed eighth.

The next bridge game will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Bickford Cottage.

NARVRE to meet

CAMANCHE — The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will meet at noon Nov. 1 at Imperial Lanes.

The menu will be a turkey dinner. Speaker will be Lester Newton, the NARVRE national vice president.

Chamber sponsors forum

CAMANCHE — The Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a candidate forum at 7 p.m. today at the Camanche Fire Station for Camanche City Council candidates.

Kathy Klahn will be the moderator. Questions will focus on the growth of the city of Camanche’s tax base, how to grow the population of Camanche and how to develop and maintain infrastructure.

Other questions include philosophies on the core services of local government, the greatest growth opportunities of Camanche and candidates’ views on the role of the business community within the city of Camanche.

Suicide benefit set for Saturday

CLINTON — A benefit will be held this weekend to support suicide awareness.

The benefit starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at Grafitti’s Bar and Grill in Clinton. Music will be performed by Indocile of Clinton, Sinistir Mind of Cedar Rapids and Battle Red of Moline, Ill.

There is a $5 cover charge and there will be an auction and raffles. People are encouraged to come in costume.

Shelly Denning’s company Red Eye Management Promotions will put on the program and all proceeds will benefit the Clinton Chapter of Suicide Awareness Foundation.
