FotoWeek opens in DC with 100+ exhibits, events

---- — FotoWeek opens in Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 100 exhibits, programs and events are opening as part of the FotoWeek DC 2013 festival.

FotoWeek begins Friday and runs through Nov. 10. Upcoming programs include exhibits at the Smithsonian Institution and at various embassies, as well as art-making activities and photography discussions.

This year, FotoWeek’s central site will be housed at National Geographic’s Museum and in its courtyard. Inside, the museum will host its “Women of Vision” exhibit.

Night hike tonight

DIXON, IOWA — The Black Hawk Hiking Club will host a night hike at 7 p.m. tonight at the Wapsi River Center.

Wild Thing event

CLINTON — The Wild Things program, for grades third through fifth, will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the lower level of the Ericksen Community Center.

Admission is $4 and is payable at the door. Activities will include games in the gym and game room and karaoke with Moonlighting D.J. service. Chaperones are Clinton Recreation staff and volunteers. All students must remain inside the Ericksen Community Center until 8:30 p.m. unless a parent enters the building to pick up their child.

Unity Christian fundraiser

FULTON, Ill. — Unity School is holding its annual evergreen and poinsettia fundraiser. Products available include various color poinsettias, balsam sprays, wreaths, garland and cross-shaped evergreens with red bows.

Orders will be accepted through Nov. 15 for garland and Nov. 21 for poinsettias. Pickup will be Nov. 26, Dec. 6 or 13.
