CLINTON — Clinton will not welcome Columbus’ ships, the Nina and the Pinta, to the riverfront next week due to the flooding Mississippi River.
The replica ships were scheduled to dock June 12-16 for visitors to tour through the week, but because of temporary closure of the locks in Hannibal, Mo., the visit has been postponed until further notice.
The ships are touring together as part of a new “sailing museum” exposition to educate the public about the caravel, a Portuguese ship used by Columbus and other early explorers.
Upon arrival to Clinton, the ships will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The public is welcome to walk aboard and enjoy self-guided tours during the ships’ stay at the Clinton Marina.
Admission will be $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for students ages 5-16 and children 4 and younger are free.
For more information on the ships’ arrival, visit the Clinton Convention and Visitor’s Bureau website.
