---- — CAMANCHE — School board election papers have been filed for the Camanche School District and four candidates will campaign for the three available spots.

Incumbents Mike Dunn, Dan Srp and Albert McManus are all running for re-election; Larry McDonald will be the only challenger to face the three at the Sept. 10 election.

“I have no complaints with the way things are running right now, I would just like to get involved myself,” McDonald said. “I would like to learn more about how the school district is run.”

Srp respects McDonald’s desire to run, as well as his fellow board members, but feels he has a better understanding with how things in the district operate.

“I feel like I’m in a good place as far as my knowledge and experience to continue to serve the district and the students,” Srp said.

Srp is running for his second term on the board and feels he is a good candidate to be selected again.

“There is a lot the board sees that people don’t realize and that was a lot to take in during my first term,” Srp said. “Now that I do that training and experience I’m excited for the opportunity to continue on with that.”

One of Srp’s opponents, Mike Dunn, understands the importance of experience.

Dunn has served on the board for 10 years and has held the position of board president since 2008.

If re-elected, Dunn will also be up for re-election as president at the first school board meeting in September.

The last candidate, McManus has yet to serve a full term on the board but has run for election multiple times.

After a previous member moved away, McManus was appointed by nomination to the board and made no hesitation to run again, this time for a full four-year term.
