CLINTON — Some re-structuring is planned for the Clinton County building maintenance department.
The Clinton County Board of Supervisors approved steps to reward Building Maintenance Manager Corey Johnson and his staff for the work they have done and add to the department. Johnson’s salary was raised to $54,723.80, effective Aug.1. He said this would be an increase of approximately $7,926, including benefits.
Supervisor Brian Schmidt said this increase is “fair compensation” for all of the work Johnson and his staff have done, particularly on the DeWitt building project. Employee Paul Burn was moved to a full-time maintenance three position, at an hourly wage of $19.90.
The board also approved moving forward with hiring a non-union supervisor position in the department. This individual will assist Johnson with budgets, schedules and other duties.
Supervisor Davisson said the department does not currently have someone to serve as back up if Johnson is absent. She added he should not have to be bothered when sick or on vacation.
“I think this is just following a plan that we have had in place,” Davisson said.
