CLINTON — Two Prince of Peace students recently represented the school at a leadership seminar.
Erin Vander Bleek and Krista Atkinson recently attended the 56th annual HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership) seminar at Central College in Pella. Two-hundred Iowa sophomores from gathered during the seminar.
Some of the core values of HOBY include volunteerism, integrity and community partnership. Vander Bleek and Atkinson and the other participants listened to motivational speakers from various professions, challenged each other in team building activities, and were involved in various service projects for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital and hospice patients.
“I liked getting to meet new people and learning how to strengthen my leadership skills,” Vander Bleek said.
All HOBY participants are encouraged to complete 100 hours of community service in the next 12 months to be eligible to return next year as a HOBY junior volunteer leader.
