The Clinton Hy-Vee started its beer and wine show in 2008 after Chris DeSaulniers became the store manager. Farley said it was DeSaulniers who approached him about holding a wine sampling event as a fundraiser for JDRF. Walsh said DeSaulniers has been a great supporter of JDRF, participating in the Ride for the Cure more than 10 times.
Last year, the Clinton Hy-Vee sent five riders to LaCrosse, Wis., for the Ride for the Cure. The company as a whole, sent more than 100 riders last year.
“There’s a lot of sponsors. A lot of friends of Hy-Vee that help us out each year with this event,” Farley said.
He added that the event would not be possible without sponsors and volunteers.
