Calling all munchkins

CLINTON — The Clinton Area Showboat Theatre is looking for munchkins.

Local auditions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the Showboat for munchkins in the upcoming “The Wizard of Oz” performance.

Munchkins may be of any age as long as they are no taller than 5 feet. Those auditioning will need to sing a song, which may be from “The Wizard of Oz” or any other musical. In order to participate in the production, munchkins must be available for rehearsals beginning June 20, during the hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Participants won’t be needed all day everyday, but must be available during those times.

Theater camps

Two theater summer camps are available on the Showboat. Classes are available for students entering first through eighth grades. Campers work directly with professional company members to develop a show of their own to be performed on the Showboat stage.

The first, Camp Oz, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday from July 7 to 18. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, and at 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19. Cost for Camp Oz is $85.

The second, Camp Wonderland, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays from Aug. 4 to 13. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, and at 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. Cost for Camp Wonderland is $75.

Camp registration forms may be downloaded at www.clintonshowboat.org. Scholarships are available to assist with costs. For more information, call 242-6760.

Season passes are still available for $100 for five shows and two-ticket passes for $40. Passes may be purchased at Clinton Printing, all Wagner Pharmacy locations and Sweet Woodruff in Fulton, Ill. Tickets also may be purchased online.
