CLINTON — Two special events this weekend will put a cap on the 60th season of Clinton Symphony Orchestra.
“A Symphonic Affair,” the symphony’s annual social event and fund-raiser is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Rastrelli’s Tuscany Center.
And then the orchestra will play a free outdoor Pops Concert in the remodeled bandshell in Riverview Park at 6:30 pm. Sunday, June 8.
The Children’s Discovery Center will have activities for the younger members of the audience as the orchestra sets up for the performance. Listeners are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics for a festive time with family and friends.
Music, under the direction of Brian Dollinger, will include tunes from movies and Broadway, as well as patriotic songs and marches. The rain site is under the US Bank building.
The Friday event features live and silent auctions of thousands of dollars of goods and services donated to support the symphony. Items range from homemade items to gift cards to dinners, musical instruments and services, a hunting trip and tickets to a Cubs game. A listing of auction items is available on the orchestra’s website, www.clintonsymphony.org.
Participants will feast on Rastrelli’s famous and lavish appetizers. A cash bar is available, as well as unique music entertainment.
Reservations are required for the Friday event, individuals at $40, or a table of eight for $240. Call 243-2300.
