Discovery Center alters weather policy

CLINTON — Officials at the Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center on Thursday reviewed its policy regarding operational hours during inclement winter weather.

The children’s museum will continue to follow the lead of the Clinton Community School District and will close for the day if the schools close for the day.

But in an adjustment from previous policy, the Children’s Discovery Center will not delay daily opening if the school district delays its start.

Executive Director Sarah Lind said parents should think about safety when driving in winter weather.

“The safety of our guests and employees is our greatest concern during hazardous winter weather conditions, and this has been a winter full of weather challenges,” Lind said. “With that in mind we have listened to the suggestions of our guests, and we have decided not to push back our opening on school delay days."

Staff at the museum will evaluate early school day dismissals, due to weather, on a case-by-case basis, weighing conditions and safety.

The Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center is open Wednesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. For more information on their weather-related schedule or any other program or event, contact them at 242-3600 or email info@adlerdiscoverycenter.org.
