• Clintonish Knitters meet Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays between 9 and noon. There is no fee for this group. Stitchers share techniques and the love of knitting or crocheting. Meetings are at Clinton’s St Paul’s Lutheran Church at the corner of Eighth Avenue South and Third Street.

• From May 1 to June 9 the calligraphy of Amy Nielsen and sculpture of Bill Wohlford will be on exhibit in the gallery of the River Arts Center. Also, the photography of Anni Johnson will be displayed in the front windows.

A reception for all three artists will be Sunday, May 19, from 2-4 p.m. The public is invited. There is no charge. The River Arts Center is located at 229 Fifth Ave. South and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Call 243-3300 for more information.

May 9

• Music in the Loft; 7 p.m.; Soaring Eagle Nature Center, Clinton. Local talents will provide entertaining instrumental and vocal offerings of a wide variety of music. Participants with musical talents are invited to bring their instruments along for this “coffee house” style jam. Refreshments are available. Donations to support the center are always welcomed. Soaring Eagle Nature Barn is located off U.S. 67 on the north end of Clinton near Eagle Point Park.

May 11

• Nature Center; open from 1 to 4 p.m.; Eden Valley Refuge, located 2 miles south of Baldwin. This rustic nature center features rocks, artifacts and live animals among beautiful limestone bluffs with the colorful, spring, woodland flowers.
