Clinton CC students celebrate graduation

---- — CLINTON — Community members piled into the W. J. Yourd Gymnasium on Monday for the 65th Clinton Community College graduation ceremony.

“This is kind of a culmination of the work that we do with our students,” CCC President Karen Vickers said. “We are really proud of our graduates.”

A total of 92 out of 200 graduating CCC students participated in commencement Monday. Vickers said it is typical to see approximately half of the graduates participate.

Dean of the College Ron A. Serpliss presented those receiving academic awards. Three of the graduates earned 4.0 grade point averages. A total of 34 students received high honors for earning a 3.5 to 3.9 GPA.

“I urge you to figure out what got you here and then bottle it,” Eastern Iowa Community Colleges Chancellor Donald Doucette said.

He told the graduates that they are proof that hard work pays off. He added that success breeds success and told the students that now that they have succeeded

Student speakers Amanda Comstock, Crystal Liebhart and Cory Reuter talked about what opportunities they have had at CCC. A reception followed the ceremony at CCC.
