River Arts Center to showcase exhibit
CLINTON — The River Arts Center will host an art exhibit this week.
Dan Budde’s art will be on display from Wednesday to Sunday, Nov. 13 at the center in Clinton.
A public reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the center. The gallery is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and for groups by calling 243-3300. All exhibits and receptions are free and open to the public.
Budde is an experienced artist, self-taught, with a range of themes and paintings.
Examples of his work will showcase landscapes, wildlife, people, buildings, surreal and fantasy pieces.
His paintings begin with an oil or acrylic underpainting, then oil for the finished work. He began his
career by knocking on doors offering to paint homes and landscapes and now paints any subject, any size, by commission from his website at Danbudde.com.
His work has been exhibited at the Old Brick Gallery, which was in Clinton, and at the Corner Gallery in Cedar Rapids.
YWCA to offer new class
CLINTON — The YWCA will present a new class this fall.
Water Boot Camp is designed for those looking for a challenge in the water. This class meets the need of those looking to increase strength and cardiovascular endurance with interval and resistance activities in a non-impact environment.
Water Boot Camp is offered from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays. The class is free to YWCA members.

University women groupto meet
CLINTON — The Clinton branch of the American Association of University Women will meet Monday at First Presbyterian Church.
The social is at 6:30 p.m., followed by announcements and a meeting.
Marilee Hilgendorf will present a program on human trafficking. Area residents are welcome to attend the program.
Reunion set for Eagle Food workers
CLINTON — The Eagle Food store employees will hold a reunion from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the AMVETS, 1317 S. 17th St.
Meat will be provided and attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. There will be a cash bar.

Superhero walk set for today
DEWITT — A Superhero in the Ballpark Day MDA Muscle Walk will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today in Westbrook Park in DeWitt.
A costume contest will begin at 11 a.m., Superhero power contests are at noon; a pitching contest begins at 1 p.m.; the Homerun Derby is at 2 p.m.; a water balloon toss starts at 3 p.m. and will be followed by a Teacher vs. Student game at 4 p.m.
All proceeds will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual Muscle Walk toward Team Griffin. The money will then go toward summer camp, research and other expenses for the benefit of families affected by Muscular Dystrophy.
Admission is free but donations are welcome.
Republican women to meet
CLINTON — The Clinton Republican Women’s Club will meet Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Suzanne Rose’s home, 4426 Bellevue Road, Clinton.
Iowa Federation of Republican Women’s president Jeanita McNulty will report on the National Federation of Republican Women’s Convention held in Lexington, Ky., this month.
The luncheon is a potluck and members are asked to bring a salad to share.
